Mother of All Cleanups

What could be a better preparation for Mother’s Day than a huge cleanup?

So it is for the river.  That means on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, we all get together to clean up along the banks of the river and the estuary.

If you are not already part of a group clearing up in your local area and you wish to help clean up Christchurch’s waterways from carelessly discarded rubbish, below are four ways you can join in...

EITHER join in with Forest and Bird North Canterbury who are organising a cleanup along the lower reaches of the river.

Meet at the car park off Ferrymead Park Drive (just before the entrance to the Golf Club) at 9.30am. Follow the signposts from Bridle Path Road, Ferrymead. No need to book, just be there.

Please wear sturdy footwear or gumboots and bring garden gloves.

OR just turn up to the New Brighton Library at 2.00pm on Saturday 8 May to help clean up the New Brighton Beach with the Sustainable Coastlines NZ group.

OR Just turn up to Lyttelton – Naval Point and join a Whaka-Ora Healthy Harbours group at 10.00am on Saturday, 8 May

OR Just turn up to Cave Rock and join a group clearing Sumner Beach group at 10.00am on Saturday, 8 May
