What we do
The Regenesis Planting Project aims to restore the hillside with healthy native plant communities that support local biodiversity and long-term regeneration. Through regular planting and releasing, we hope to create a thriving habitat that will continue to strengthen and grow for years to come.
We meet on the third Sunday of each month from 1.00–3.00pm at the Cashmere Road entrance to Westmorland West Reserve (opposite Bushland Drive). Our working bees focus on planting and releasing native trees. Get in touch if you’d like to join us – new volunteers are always welcome.

Who are we?
Regenesis is a project of the South West Baptist Church, supporting our community to engage in practical environmental care.
History
Following the 2017 Port Hills fires, the South West Baptist Church partnered with BPCT, local landowners, and Brailsfords to replant native species in covenanted land in Landsdowne Valley over 7 years. In 2025 we began a new six-year restoration partnership with Christchurch City Council in Westmorland West Reserve, overseeing replanting and maintenance of the trees, supported by the Council with plants and infrastructure.
