Claxton Place first appears in street directories in 1957.  The significance of the name is not known.

About the waterway

While these are two stormwater drains that take surface water from Claxton Place, they run freely throughout the year indicating a spring source in one or more of the properties.  The flow is reasonably significant in size, greater in the upstream one than the other.

The downstream pipe ends above the normal flow of the river with the end of the pipe restricted by a valve door to prevent upflow. This is not fish friendly but then neither are the gully traps that these pipes lead to. Click to enlarge
