Just a couple of days before the big February quake in 2011, Zak Cassells led a group of volunteers on a clean-up of a loop of the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River. Toby will be providing us with an updated explanation of the principles, intention and scope of the
Spatial Planting Plan for the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River
The Spatial Planting Plan sets out high-level planting plans for much of the riparian areas of the river taking into account a significant number of criteria and limiting factors such as underground services, the need to respect views of the river from private residences and public safety. Ecology has a part to play as well but how much room is left for it after allowing for all the other factors? Toby will explain the compromises that have to be made.
